Patrick Mahomes’ Mother Posts Heartwarming Photo from Hospital as She Asks for Prayers for Her Ailing Father During Chiefs’ Win

Randi Mahomes, the mother of Patrick, shared a touching photo from a hospital while watching her son’s Kansas City Chiefs with her ill father, Randy.

‘Watching game with daddy today,’ Randi, 48, wrote on X. ‘Prayers please for my dad.’

The photo shared by Randi shows her daughter Mia seated alongside a hospital bed, where Patrick’s grandfather, Randy, is laying facing the television. The screen appears to show Sunday’s Chiefs-Chargers game from Los Angeles, which Kansas City won, 17-10, to improve to 4-0.

The specific health issue hasn’t been publicized, but Randi did reveal that her father was unwell earlier this month.

‘Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy,’ she wrote on September 13. ‘He is in the hospital and is not well.’

There has been an outpouring of support online. Many responders told Randi that they are, indeed, praying for her father.

Like teammate Travis Kelce’s mother, Donna, Randi has also become a celebrity as her son has won three Super Bowls over five seasons.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Randi revealed that Kelce gave her the endearing nickname ‘Mama Mahomes’ and uses it every time they meet. Furthermore, she opened up about the familial atmosphere at Arrowhead Stadium and the sense of community among Patrick and his teammates.

‘It feels almost like a little family, you know. I love that,’ Randi told the publication. ‘I love meeting Chiefs players because you don’t always get to meet them all.’

Randi has admitted to be overwhelmed with fame at times.

Randi opened up about her struggles with fame during a July appearance on ‘The Mom Game’ podcast, where she admitted to envying friends who aren’t related to Patrick Jr., the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, not to mention his brother Jackson, a well-known social media influencer.

‘I look at some of my friends on social media and I’m jealous that they have this normal [life],’ she said. ‘Their kids are the same age as Patrick (28) and Jackson (24), and they have this normal situation and we don’t. It’s super difficult.

‘We just want to be normal and go and have dinner,’ she continued. ‘We don’t do that.’

The problem with her son’s notoriety even persists when she’s working as an event planner – something she’s done for 20 years.

‘At my work, it’s really hard because 90 percent of my phone calls aren’t about work,’ she said. ‘I still go to work and want to live normal.’

Of course, living normal is a bit of a pipe dream when your eldest son is signed to a $480 million NFL contract.

But while Randi admits to being fortunate, she can’t help but feel overwhelmed by the problems that her family’s fame can bring.

‘As much as I say we’re blessed and Patrick’s living his dream, it has been the hardest seven years of my adult life,’ Randi explained. ‘It’s been really hard to juggle…being proud of him and the hate that you get and the kids get. I can’t even explain how hard it’s been. I’ve cried a lot. I struggle with it.’

Much of that struggle came after Jackson was accused of misdemeanor battery and three counts of aggravated sexual battery. The felony charges were later dropped by the judge, citing a lack of cooperation from the alleged victim.

As Randi put it, Jackson has ‘been through the ringer,’ but ‘the truth came out.’

In addition to being a grandmother to Patrick’s two children, Brandi is also a mother to 12-year-old daughter, Mia.

She gave birth to Patrick Jr. when she was 20 and Patrick Sr. was pitching for the Minnesota Twins.

In fact, Patrick Jr.’s godfather is former Twins reliever LaTroy Hawkins.

Randi admits that Patrick Jr. is ‘living out his dream’ but she can’t help but think that her other two children aren’t as lucky.

But if there is a good side to her son’s fortune and fame, it’s that Randi no longer needs to worry about finances.

‘They don’t even need me for money to take them to dinner,’ she said of her children. ‘They take me to dinner.’
