How Many Diggs Brothers Are Making Waves in the NFL?

The NFL has long been viewed as a brotherhood, with players coming together and spending countless hours working towards the goal of winning a championship in mind. Oftentimes, players and coaches spend more time with their teammates than their actual families during the season.

Bills WR Stefon Diggs and brother Trevon turn heads with new endorsement deal

That bond and brotherhood is special, and for the Diggs family, that connection means just a little bit more. It is one thing to call your friends and teammates your brothers, as you come together for one common goal. It is another thing entirely to have an actual blood brother in the NFL with you.

Let’s take a closer look at the Diggs family and see how family and football are so closely intertwined.

Two Diggs Brothers, One League

There are currently two Diggs brothers in the NFL at this time. The eldest is star wide receiver Stefon Diggs of the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys star cornerback, Trevon Diggs. The two brothers are very close, with Stefon being four years older and being a real father-like figure in Trevon’s life.

“We competed at everything. But when I think about the competition I have with other people, I don’t care about them. I want to win by any means,” Stefon told Sports Illustrated. “I want to win. He wants to win, but it was never coming from a bad place.”

The two are constantly taking every chance they can to be there for one another — whether it is showing support through social media or being at each other’s games when their schedule allows it. The brotherly bond is strong for these two, and beyond that, they are both at the top of their professions, too.

“I think it’s cool as hell,” Stefon told the Wall Street Journal about being in the NFL with his brother. “It’s a small group of guys with siblings. It’s probably not as cool for me as it is for my mom. She’s got a special womb or something, she’s pushing out the athletes.”

Stefon is widely viewed as one of the league’s best wide receivers. He is known for his elite route-running ability and the big plays he has made throughout his career. Stefon’s career started with the Minnesota Vikings and is famously known for the “Minneapolis Miracle.”

Stefon has spent the last few years in Buffalo being Josh Allen’s favorite target and, at 30 years old, has remained one of the most feared and respected pass catchers in the entire league. This offseason, Stefon was traded to the Houston Texans and will now be paired up with one of the most dynamic QBs in the league, C.J. Stroud.

After the trade, Trevon took to X to comment on the move writing “3 #1’s,” which is an apparent reference to the Texans having a receiver group comprised of Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins, and Tank Dell.

Younger brother Trevon is a star in his own right but is just scratching the surface of his career. Trevon is one of the best ball-hawking cornerbacks in the NFL and is known for his elite ball skills in the secondary.

“I always contact my brother before and after the game, but sometimes I text him during the games while he’s on the field,” Stefon told ESPN in 2022. “At times I’ll be like ‘Just sit on the route. Your pick is coming,’ and he’ll text me if he sees something during the game.”

“As soon as I go in the locker room, I knew he’d text me like if I’m having a bad game or doing something here he’d give me little words of encouragement like, ‘Come on, let’s go. Second half; shake it back,’ ” Trevon said in the same interview.

Trevon signed a five-year, $97 million extension with the Dallas Cowboys that has secured his future as a cornerstone piece for the defense. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL in practice heading into Week 3 of the 2023 season and was out for the entire year. He recently was removed from the PUP list and looks to be on pace to be able to play this year.
